우리는 OpenAI의 시대를 살아가고 있다고 해도 과언이 아닙니다. 챗GPT의 출현 이후 모든 사업 분야가 급속도로 변하고 있죠. 이제 프롬프트 만으로 PDF 파일을 요약하고, 웹사이트를 생성하고 이미지를 만드는 건 너무나 당연한 일이 되었습니다. 그런데 지난 11월 출시된 GPTs도 아직 연구되고 발전하고 있는 시점에 말도 안 되는 일이 일어났습니다. 2024년 2월 16일 새벽, OpenAI는 새로운 영상 생성 AI 모델인 Sora AI를 공개했습니다.

성능: 어디까지 생성이 가능한가?

Sora는 프롬프트를 주면 최대 1분 길이의 영상을 생성해 줍니다. 길게 설명하기보다 영상을 바로 보여드릴게요.

어떠신가요? 제가 만약 아무 설명 없이 이 영상을 봤다면, 당연히 촬영한거로 생각했을 것 같아요. 디테일 면에서 완벽하진 않지만 이게 불과 대여섯 문장으로 생성됐다는 게 놀라울 따름입니다.

물론 아직 최종 버전은 아니기에 한계점도 존재합니다.

앞으로 발전할 미래는?

영화에서나 가능했던 현실이 이제는 바로 눈앞에 있습니다. 모든 새로운 기술이 그러하듯 Sora가 긍정적인 효과만 가져오지는 않을 것입니다. 새로운 창작의 자유와 함께 따라오는 부작용과 도전 과제에 대해서 깊은 고민이 이루어져야 하는 이유이죠. OpenAI 역시 정책, 교육을 담당하는 기관들과 소통을 통해 안전한 모델을 만들겠다고 합니다. Sora가 가져올 미래는 확실히 놀랍고 엄청난 가능성이 있습니다. 정식 출시가 이루어지면 알게 되겠지만 또 한 번 엄청난 바람이 불 것 같네요.
